Grimm has grown up in several countries, starting in Spain. His Father was in the military and when his Mother was pregnant with him, Father got stationed in Spain for a couple of years. After spending some time in Spain, taking in the culture and everything, Father then got stationed in Germany where they stayed until late 1989 at which point, flew over the Atlantic into America where he resides to this day. Grimm has traveled through a couple of states in the United States, including California, Nebraska, and Texas.
In 1992, his parents divorced, and like most kids in the middle of a divorced, Grimm thought that he was the reason for them breaking up. Also, after the divorce, Mother started to become physical with Grimm. Mother would yell, slap, and hit him for things that most kids would normally just get a talking to. Mother and him drifted apart. As for Father, guess that he know what was going through Grimm’s and his brother’s head. Father took the two of them to a psychologist so that they can “talk” about the divorce. By the time Grimm went to the psychologist, he understood that he, or his brother, were not the cause of his parents separation.
Grimm usually stayed to himself because due to him having to move around a lot as a little kid, he never really had friends. There was no point, he would only move away later and never see them again. With that, he would stay at home watching TV or playing games. He got interested into the Grimm Reaper due to that fact that his name was Grimm. Over the years, he came to understand more of the Reaper than most people. For instance, the Reaper is not evil. Grimm also came to like manga/anime because of his sister. As he lived with Father, Sister lived with Mother. When it came time to have to visit Mother, Grimm and Sister would watch some anime, mainly Sailor Moon and Dragon Ball, not Dragon Ball Z, since that’s all that Sister had. When it came time for Anime Conventions to roll through the city, Grimm would have to stay home while Sister got to go and look at all the different items and anime/manga that was out on display. He never got to go because Mother just wouldn’t let him. No reason given.
During his upper Elementary school years and Junior High school years, Mother became more aggressive towards Brother and him. Mother would have the two sit outside and pull weeds for several hours in temperatures reaching 120 degrees Fahrenheit during the summer. Brother and Grimm would have to stay out there until a “certain amount” of weeds where pulled. So, while out in the scourging sun, Grimm’s mind would go back and forth between thoughts of anime and the Reaper.
In Grimm’s high school years, he had nothing that resembled self esteem and so Grimm fell into a dark state in his life where he never really got out of the house. He never had any people that he saw outside of school. He kept the drapes closed to his room and kept it dark. Father started to complain about it smelling musky in the room and to open the window at times. When Grimm started his first job, there were some issues that arose from situations there to the point at where when Father and Brother were out of the house, visiting relatives in another state, he took Fathers 44 Magnum, fortunately, there where no bullets around. All the rounds available to him where already fired and no use to him. From time before and after that incident, Grimm has used cutting as a away to escape for reality. When he would slide the cold metal across his skin, all his thoughts and focus would be on that moment. He tried to end his life with this once before. Not by hands but by a broader place. Grimm still has scars that serve as a reminder about how things used to be. Later on in life, Grimm wanted to write something, not sure what it was exactly that he wanted to do but he knew he wanted to have the Reaper and something in the manga style. Grimm finally came to the decision that he’ll just make a manga with an element that resembles the Reaper. With that final decision, Grimm has come up with this place, Grimm’s Place. Grimm is now on a path that he feels good about, and he’s taking that path with his wife and daughter.
